How Can I Support You?

Prayer

Above all else, we need your prayers! We are completely dependent upon the Lord to sustain and bless our ministry to missionaries and to their young adult children in our care. If you’d like to receive an email with a link to our latest prayer letters, please  email us and put "subscribe" in the subject line. We respect your privacy and will not share your information with others.

Giving

We live "By Faith" each month in the Lord's Provision, modeling gratitude and good stewardship to our MKs. 100% of your tax-deductible support goes to our MK ministry and we pledge high accountability to you, our donors. We deeply appreciate monetary gifts (one-time and on-going monthly support) as well as "gifts-in-kind" (reliable used cars, computers, furniture, etc for MKs to use).

To give a one-time gift, or become a part of our monthly support team, please make your check payable to “Joseph House Ministries” and include a note to our Treasurer “for Mark and Dedria’s support.” Please mail your check to "Joseph House Ministries" at P.O. Box 3056, Fort Mill, SC 29708.

Would You Present Your Ministry to My Church, Mission or Other Group?

We'd LOVE to! Just email us and let us know the details and we'll happily come share our ministry with your group. If it would be more convenient for you to receive some literature or materials from us rather than us visit, just let us know that and we'll send you information. We have a 7 minute video available and a very brief Power Point Presentation as well as brochures and bulletin inserts. Thank you!

Who is Eligible to Stay at MKSTAY?

Young Adult MKs (16-23 years of age) whose parents are serving overseas as missionaries of an evangelical Christian mission organization.

How Long can I Stay?

MKs may stay overnight, for a few days, a few weeks, a few months or a few years.

How Much Does it Cost?

We charge $9 per day and that includes your room, utilities, and food. Furniture, linens, donated cars and other basic items are also provided. You'll need to be responsible for personal expenditures such as toiletries, medicines, entertainment, car insurance, gas, car repair parts, and schooling.

May I "Check You Out" with a Visit First?

ABSOLUTELY!! :-) In fact we've found that it's incredibly helpful for you and for us to get to know each other a bit before making a commitment re: residential status. It seems to work best when one or both parents come along too! That way you and your folks can check out your living situation and accomodations, get to know us, ask any important questions, and perhaps visit local schools and churches.

Where are You Located?

We have a great location! Our MK home is in Fort Mill, South Carolina, just 10 minutes from Charlotte, North Carolina. Many factors make the greater Charlotte, NC area an ideal place for our MK home. Numerous colleges, universities, seminaries, and tech schools operate within a thirty-mile radius. And as Charlotte’s explosive growth continues, opportunities for employment and for ministry abound. A variety of strong churches minister in the area, and several mission agencies have made the Metrolinas their home base. A vibrant and  multi- ethnic city, Charlotte offers an easily accessible international airport, a safe and economical transit system, state-of-the-art library facilities, and a variety of arts and entertainment.

Some of the jobs held by MKSTAY residents include construction, retail music store, retail clothing, grocery store, catering, coffee house. The Fort Mill, Rock Hill and Charlotte area is experiencing explosive growth and job opportunities abound. York Tech boasts an 80+ % career placement for their students, placing many of them in internships before the student has even graduated!

What Transportation Options are Available?

From time-to-time, vehicles are donated for the use of our MKSTAY residents. We sign the vehicle over to the MK resident and he/she is responsible for car insurance, tag and title, gas, and car repair parts. Mark helps the resident with repairs (at no cost for his labor). When the resident leaves MKSTAY, he/she signs the title back to us and leaves the vehicle for future MK residents. MKs are also encouraged to bring their own vehicles.

We're happy to teach you to drive but we'd also advise you to get your driver's license before arriving here if possible. SC Driver's Permits require 6 months before licensing! You'll also need either your birth certificate or passport, AND your social security card, AND proof of car insurance.

What MK Re-Entry Seminars are Available?

Our good friends and colleagues at Missionary Resources Connection (in connection with Barnabas International) offer an annual MK Re-Entry Camp directed by AMKs. Read their brochure and download an application here

Is MKSTAY a Boarding Home?

Although MKSTAY is a ministry to MKs, the home is the private residence of Mark and Dedria. We seek to provide a family-like atmosphere and we all share a high level of accountability as we live in community together. We are all about "doing life together" and not just renting a room or serving as a college dorm.

How Do I Apply?

Please contact us and we'll be happy to share the application process with you. We look forward to hearing from you!
